Cambridge Cohousing
The project was a positive response to the unaffordability of the housing market, isolation and loneliness in our neighbourhoods, and aimed to utilise the land and environment better. Begun by a Cambridge family, it grew to include over 10 households.
They wanted to share the dream of home ownership, in a sustainable way, providing affordable housing and creating a vibrant, connected community. They had hoped to be a multigenerational community, with financial and social advantages for singles, couples or families.
“We were still hopeful we could progress things, and tried to rethink where we might go, but attempts to identify and secure suitable land have proven fruitless. Access to enough capital also proved difficult, so, in light of the report’s findings, we have decided to call it quits on the project, and dissolve the group.”
